Assault charges

A Belleville man faces two charges in connection with an assault investigation Tuesday in the city.

Police stated they received a call at 5:55 p.m. about a confrontation on St. Paul Street.

They stated witnesses reported a man drove up, at high speed, to a home, then left the vehicle and began assaulting another man. The first man left the scene prior to police arrival.

Police later charged Robert Bradley, 53, with assault and assault with a weapon. He was released and is to appear Sept. 2 in court.

Arrested on warrants

Peterborough police have arrested a resident of that city wanted in Belleville on three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Police in Peterborough advised Belleville officers at 10 p.m. Thursday they had a man in custody,

Paul Phillips, 44, was held for a bail hearing Wednesday in Belleville.

Intoxication arrest

Belleville police arrested one person for public intoxication Tuesday evening near the intersection of Bridge Street East and Sidney Street.

Responding to a complaint of a man wandering into traffic, police reported finding a 31-year-old Belleville man unconscious in a plaza parking lot. They added he was arrested for his own safety and held in custody until sober.
